About Dr. Maurizio Viel

Dr. Maurizio Viel is a plastic surgeon and co-founder of Cornerstone Clinic in Grosvenor House, Dubai Marina. He graduated in medicine from the University of Milan and completed an ISAPS-sponsored fellowship in aesthetic plastic surgery in London. He has more than 30 years of experience across Harley Street, Dubai and Milan, and has been based in Dubai since 2008. He is best known for liposuction: he was the first to bring VASER technology to Europe through his London clinic, and later to the UAE. He was one of the first surgeons to switch to VASER and has trained surgeons in the technique across Europe and the Middle East.

Techniques Used

VASER is at the centre of Dr. Viel’s liposuction work:

  • VASER liposuction: ultrasound energy targets fat cells while leaving blood vessels and nerves relatively untouched, with less bruising and a faster recovery
  • 360 liposuction: the full waist (abdomen, flanks and back) sculpted in one session
  • VASER combined with J-Plasma: helium plasma energy to tighten the skin, for example on the arms
  • Performed at a day hospital under light sedation. Most patients return to light activities after 48 hours
